Want to know more about us and what we do?

Well you’re in the right place.

There is a long history of community inspired entertainment in Hoghton. Older members of the village recall plays, pantos and concerts held in the original village hall, which is now the cricket pavilion next to the present hall.

After the current hall was built it became a vibrant centre for local entertainment that endures to this day.

Pantomime was revived by the ladies of the Hoghton WI who performed annual pantos throughout the 80s.

Back in 1996 the Hoghton Players amateur dramatic society was formed and, as part of their repertoire, performed two or three pantos, but then decided not to produce any more.

Hoghton Pantomime Society (HotPants) was formed, as a dedicated pantomime society, in the early 2000’s by Malcolm Clay and Russell Atkinson, two friends with a love of the stage, who brought together a group of like-minded am-dram enthusiasts to keep the good folk of Hoghton entertained every other January.

Their first panto was Aladdin, written and directed by HotPants co-founder the late and much missed Malcolm Clay. Since then they have produced a, more or less, biennial panto and don’t plan to stop any time soon!

Pantos, like no other form of stage entertainment, require huge effort, on and off stage, with a small army of volunteers working tirelessly to provide and paint sets, props, wardrobe, lighting, sound and special effects as well as front of house.

Without their support and dedication the panto wouldn’t happen.
